Taking Computer Science As An Online Course

My university did not offer my computer science course at a time that was convenient for me. No matter how I re-arranged my schedule, I was never able to fit in the required computer science course. Luckily they now offer the course online so that I can still take the course but have it fit into my schedule.

At first I was hesitant to take a course that was online. There were many things that did not seem clear to me at first. How can I interact with other students? What if I need to talk to the teacher? How do I take a test? Many of these questions were answered at the first day that the course became available online. Students could sit in a virtual classroom and post topics of discussion. The teacher left his home phone number as well as his e-mail if we ever needed to contact him. He also made extra time available to his students to meet with them if they could not make it to his office hours. Finally as it was a computer science course, there were not any multiple choice questions on the tests. All the tests consisted of writing programs, and looking at the code for others to see how they would work. The tests were designed to be taken without the use of a book.

All in all the class was a success. I learned the material that I needed, and never once felt that I was behind on a subject. Thanks to my hughes net internet, I was able to take courses in my pajamas.
