For the last 7 years I’ve been working as a network administrator for an international company based in Cambridge MA. I also know enough about Windows XP and Windows 7 including the registry, file directory structure, security, performance tweaks, etc.

My curiosity when it comes to technology is insatiable so I’m always testing and learning new things.

I have an AT&T Wireless DSL router that is set-up with a WEP key encryption, and it works fine with several other laptops (one XP, one MAC, another HP with Windows 7, two iPads, one iPhone and two android phones. The one laptop that is giving me a problem is a Gateway that I recently upgraded with increased RAM ... Windows Vista to Windows 7 Home Premium. I have been able to set up a wireless profile at work that has a WPA2 network encryption setup and with no problems there.

I have installed kaspersky Anti-virus 2012 trail version on my desktop (windows xp). But today when i turn my desktop on it was doing some strange things like when i opened my hotmail and was downloading word file from hotmail. It won't let me open it. So i thought it might be because of the anti-virus. So when i went to control ... and i am worried because i don't want to lose it. Any help will be appreciated. I am very upset because i have a assignment due next week. :'(

I have an internet provider that cannot provide me with a fixed IP address (can't escape the contract for a while yet either). I am looking for a way to access some IP cctv cameras remotely when away from home. Without knowing what IP address to use I am a bit stuck. Dyndns is one option (although not free any longer) but this requires a pc running at home all the time. Does anyone know of an alternative fix that could be used. Thanks in advance.

I can't figure out why I don't have audio. I have a Dell Dimension desktop, thats around 5 yrs old. I get a pop up window telling me no sound card detected. After installing the cd that came with the webcam, I got a pop up that said no mircrophone detected. The webcam has a built in microphone. ... reinstalled the cd again. Still no sound! What am I not checking? Everything is plugged in correctly. Very frustrated and would appreciate your input on this. Thank you.
